While I currently reside in Telford in Sunny Shropshire I was brought up in Nuneaton in Warwickshire, close to one of the country’s top match and pleasure fishing venues, Makins Fishery; coupled with a whole host of canal stretches. I honed my skills fishing these venues for commercial carp and also roach, chub and skimmers.

I started out fishing matches for a local junior club eventually progressing into larger Junior National events – even managing an Individual 2nd on the River Thames, before leaving home to study. Spending three years at Sparsholt College studying Fishery Management really helped me get an insight on what goes on under the surface of the water and where the fish are. This also sparked my love for big fish, and having netted some impressive sized fish I set my sights on catching them that large!

While in my previous job, working for Crafty Carper magazine, I had the chance to fish some fantastic waters and rub shoulders with the some of the best anglers in the country.

More recently my fishing has taken a big change, switching to more short session fishing, not just for carp, but also barbel, perch and pike.
